Pre Season Friendly- Tattenhoe Whites 2 Warriors 11

A squad of only 6 players turned up for this quickly put together match against Tattenhoe Whites. The sun was out, and the team were in good spirits.
The Warriors started in typical Warriors style (ie asleep!!) and went 1-0 down with the very 1st attack of the game. Pretty much all stepped aside and allowed the Tattenhoe player to slot the ball past Leonard in goal. Warriors then decide to wake up! After the 1st two 10 min halves, Warriors found themselves 2-1 up thanks to goals from Liam and Sami. It really , really should have been more! Despite netting 25 goals last season Ben decided to pick this game to start hitting everything at the keeper!! He had at least 5 efforts all on target..but all straight at the keeper! Come on Ben!! (i'm allowed to moan, I'm his dad :)).
Me and Kev were starting to worry... we were in complete control yet just weren't finishing them off. then Suddenly... Flood gates opened! Liam and Sami both ended the game with 5 goals each, and even goal shy Ben managed to convert one! In all seriousness, Seeing Liam, Ben and Sami attack as a three was a joy to watch.
Also special note to Luke.. A stunning performance in the middle, breaking up moves which allowed the attacking trio to  do their thing. Luke will run through walls for you (and a few players too!)

Well Done lads.
Team- Leonard, Jacob, Luke, Sami, Liam, Ben.

ROMAN RANGERS TOURNAMENT

Roman Rangers Blue 0 Warriors 0
A strong start to the tournament by the Warriors, against a good Rangers Team. Julian was solid at the back with Connor J. Ben, Callum and Liam played some brilliant passing football but couldn’t quite get the killer ball through.
Warriors 0 Lightening 5
Team changes a plenty for the game against Lightening. Plus a few internal wobbles being thrown by a few of the Warriors team!! Bad performance!! Well done to Lightening though, some very good goals.
Tattenhoe 3 Warriors 0
Game swung on a quite terrible call by the ref!! Callum was kicked from behind causing him to hit the deck. It was such a clear foul it was almost painful!!! Not for the man in black! Their striker picked the ball up and ran through on goal to make it 1-0. Warriors then huffed and puffed but some keeping and defensive errors lead to another 2 goals.
Warriors 0 Roman Rangers Yellow 3
More defensive and keeping mistakes in this one. KICK IT WIDE!!!!! nope… 3-0
Warriors 1 City Colt Jaguars 0
STUNNING Warriors display. Solid at the back. Callum played fantastic in goal. Liam twisted and turned in the middle. But then…then it happened… Just like a scene from a premiership match, Julian picked up the ball in his own area and pushed forward, beat 1 man, beat 2, beat 3…. he was storming forward… Liam ran into space, I yelled for Julian to pass it!!! But no, Julian beat his last man before slamming the ball past the keeper! Stunning goal. Can’t say much else!! Warriord then controled the rest of the game. WELL DONE LADS!!!
Toddington Cobras 0 Warriors 0
Sam was back in goal for this one. Callum in an unusual defensive position with Julian alongside him. Liam and ben hunting the ball down in the middle with Cameron up front. Superb defensive display against one of the strongest teams of the day, Callum was quite briliant in defence.
REVIEW- Only really one bad performance. But 3 clean sheets!! Looking good for next season lads. Very well done.
Man of the match- A close one this. Callum played really well again today. But he was just tipped to that title by Julian. Alstar performance from our whizz kid defender… and OMG, what a goal!!!
WELL DONE WARRIORS!!!

Wolverton Tigermoths 4 Warriors 4

For the final game of the season the Warriors took a big squad to the game, to allow all players to get a runout. The 1st 1/4 started very slow for the Warriors. No real signs of passion or effort from the players, despite Paul's yelling and hand waving from the sides! things slowly got bad as the Tigermoth's took a 3-0 lead! Cobbler's cup hangover maybe? Just before the end of the 1st period, Ben, fresh from picking award the top scorer award for the season banged in a goal to make it 3-1 at the break.

The second 1/4 had a pretty slow start too... but then the Warriors kicked into life. Callum found himself on the end of a good pass and slotted the ball past their keeper. 3-2, game on! The 3rd 1/4 started with the Warriors in more control of things, and saw Ben get his second of the game to confirm a brilliant comeback. 3-3. The last 1/4 saw a complete defensive mix up and Tigermoths regain the lead! 4-3. The Warriors then upped their game. Sammi went through on goal only to see his shot go straight at the keeper. Liam huffed and puffed across the middle but was unable to open up the Tigermoths defence with a run or a killer pass. Then Sammi broke free again, and this time he placed his shot wide of the keeper to make it 4-4. Final whistle, cracking game in the sunshine!

Both managers then decided to end the game with a penalty shootout! Untested Sam stepped forward and wanted to be the keeper... the crowd gasped.... was this the right move? Had manager Paul made a mistake? the answer.. Nooooo!! Sam pulled off at least 5 saves in the shoutout which saw the Warriors as clear winners.

Well done lads.

Awards for players!

Leading scorer award- Ben Petford won the leading scorer award with 16 goals for the Warriors ( and 1 for lightening). Ben then scored 2 more in the game against Tigermoths bringing his total to 19.

Most improved player- Connor Jackson. Connor has become on of the 1st names on the team sheet in recent months. His partnership with julian has been fantastic.

Parents player of the season- A close set of votes saw Sammi win this award by just 1 vote. Sammi joined the Warriors just after xmas and has brought much needed pace to the front line. He has also chipped in with an impressive 11 goals.

Managers player of the season- the big prize goes to... JULIAN!!! A fantastic season from Julian. His tackles and pace at the back have been superb all season. 100% effort every game. A very well deserved award.

Of course none of these players would have won these awards without the help of their team mates. There have been plenty of highlights through the season... Callum's wonder strike in the 3-1 win over Willen. Jacob's goal from a corner against Tattenhoe. Sam's penalty saves against Tigermoths, to name just a few. More of the same please next season lads. BIG WELL DONE.

New ID Photo's

Hello everyone

We have been dropped a bomb shell,

In the past the league used to update the players identity cards every 2 years. This year they have decided (just a day or so ago) to change their minds and change them every year. HELPFUL!!!!

So I will need passport sized photos of all the lads (not together i'm afraid!)

Thanks

Cobblers Cup

Long Buckby 0 Warriors 1
Well organised display from the Warriors. Leonard’s goal wasn’t put under any real pressure thanks to some brilliant defending from Julian and Connor J. The warriors pegged Buckby back into their own half, with a string of corners. Callum’s 3rd corner was finally turned in by Julian who had came up from the back! I went mad on the sideline, and crowd did too! Fantastic stuff.
Team- Leonard,Julian Connor J, Sammi, Ben, Callum
Corby Kingwood 0 Warriors 1
Almost as if the last game hadn’t stopped! A few changes to the starting lineup didn’t change the result. Connor H joined Julian in defence and formed a solid partnership. Cameron moved into the middle and made some great tackles. Riley led the front line. After 2 throw ins on the trot from Julian, he finally released Sammi, who belted the ball past the keeper.
Team- Leonard, Connor H, Julian, Sammi, Cameron, Riley.
Warriors 0 Warboys Colts 3
Well… not quite sure what to type! After 2 amazing games, the Warriors fell into a coma for this game. No attacks of note. Not quite sure what happened! Warboys were a very good side though.
Team- Riley, Connor J, Connor H, Ben, Cameron, Callum.
Warriors 0 Irchester Romans 2
much improved Warriors took on a very physical Irchester team. Shirt pulling all over the place! Leonard did really well up front. Callum played in goal and pulled off a fantastic one handed save! One for the cameras without a doubt.
Team- Callum, Julian, Connor J, Sammi, Ben, Leonard.
Warriors 1 Corby Diamonds 2
Comanding performance from Captain Ben in the middle of the pitch, lots of great runs, tackles and turns. Callum was left exposed twice by defensive mistakes and could do nothing about the goals. A brilliant move starting from a Ben throw in, a Sammi flick and a rocket Riley finish pulled it back to 2-1. Had the game gone on longer, we’d have pulled it back!
Team- Callum, Connor H, Cameron,Sammi, Ben, Riley.
MANAGERS VIEW- Very, very proud. It was wet, it was cold, yet they all worked so hard. Just the one game (the 3-0) that I wasn’t happy about. Two more clean sheets too!! Fantastic. Well done Warriors.
Man of the Tournament went to CALLUM! I shout at him most weeks, tell him to run about more! Boy did he do that today. Infact, I’d give him the award just for that one handed save!
